They found increased infection rates near pig farms and hypothesized that the current pig farming industry may intensify the spread of the virus. Pigs can easily catch avian flu and other human influenza viruses at the same time. Consequently, intensive pig farms are incubation laboratories for new diseases and future pandemics.
