Promoting Friendly Bacteria in Our Digestive System with Dr. Thomas Lehninger

There are more than 1000 bacterial species in the human gut, some of which are “friendly” as they promote the enhancement of our health. By contrast, other species are not beneficial and can weaken us, even to the point of death. In general, the two types of bacterial species compete with each other like a tug-of-war. If the former wins or becomes dominant, it leads to an optimal health condition. Scientific evidence shows that an imbalance with harmful bacteria predominating, can not only cause intestinal problems, but also negatively affect the immune, cardiovascular, and metabolic systems.
