My favorite part of our family’s vegan meal is a healthy dessert! I have an easy homemade blueberry compote recipe tip for you. It comes together in just 15 minutes using a handful of simple ingredients and is a delicious topping for healthy breakfast and dessert recipes. You can even freeze extra batches to enjoy year-round. Combine 280 grams (2 cups) of frozen or fresh blueberries, 50 grams (¼ cup) of granulated sugar, 30 milliliters (2 tablespoons) of water, 15 milliliters (1 tablespoon) of fresh lemon juice, 2 grams (1 teaspoon) of lemon zest, and 1.5 grams (¼ teaspoon) of salt to a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Once it’s simmering, lower the heat and simmer on low for 10–15 minutes, stirring periodically until the compote thickens to your preferred consistency. Please note that it will continue to thicken as it cools. Let the mixture cool a little bit prior to serving. Enjoy it warm or chilled with your favorite breakfast dishes or desserts.
