Today, as we continue our conversation with René Zografos, he emphasizes that how we treat animal citizens reflects our values as a society. “I also have research that says that people who are violent to animals are also more violent to humans, and to pets. There are some values in the society that is missing, that we should learn from the schools. That is to respect nature, to respect all kinds of animals, because they are living beings.” “We are producing food in a very stupid way because we get very little food out of a lot of resources. We can feed 10 people on plant food, with the same resources that we use to feed one carnivore, one meat-eater.” “Sometimes they have to do some illegal actions to achieve these land areas, and also political work. The problem is that it’s, like, 10 huge companies in the world who are doing the most damage, and they are allowed to do that year after year, more, and more, and more.”

“The Ego System” explores the issue of political inaction and how a few key policy changes could lead to significant progress in moving away from destructive food systems. “Unfortunately, we don’t have politicians who are brave enough to make such important decisions. So, that’s where, again, we who are vegans come in, because we are the only ones who can save the future by inspiring others to become vegans.” “The most beautiful thing is when I see people find their integrity and stop exploiting animals, you can see how proud they are.” “Go vegan! I think we should go back to basics and find the real values in life. So, if we can value more of the nature products, I think we will be eager to protect them more.”
