In today’s news, Japan pledges funds for flood victims in southern Thailand. UK study finds human brain develops in five key stages, Canada introduces simplified color code to better communicate weather threats, European nonprofits collaborate to help marine mammal-folk, Australian teen saves elderly woman from burning home, Singaporean food tech company uses soy waste to make worthwhile products, and US animal-people group rescues dog-persons in life-threatening danger.
I have an animal-companion care tip. To know if your cat-friend has an infection in the mouth, which is common in older individuals, several warning signs may appear. These can include bad breath, swelling along the jaw or under the eye, sometimes with a bulging appearance, refusal to eat, drainage from the nose or mouth, drooling, sluggish behavior, pawing at the mouth, rubbing the face on the ground, or dropping food while eating. If dental surgery or tooth extraction is needed, feeding soft foods for a few days can help reduce discomfort and support healing. This includes moist or semi-moist food, or dry kibble softened with water. Always follow your veterinarian’s specific feeding instructions after surgery. To help prevent future tooth extractions, ongoing dental care is essential. Vets may recommend dental treats, therapeutic dental diets, water additives, gentle toothbrushing, or mouth-rinsing products to reduce plaque buildup and keep your cat-person’s mouth healthier long term.
Now we’ll have a good laugh with the joke of the day entitled, “Jogging and Giggle Equivalence.”
At the park, Deangelo saw Kamren laughing as the joggers were passing by.
“Hey, Kamren, why are you sitting here laughing at all the joggers?”
“Because recent research shows that laughing for two minutes is just as healthy as a 20-minute jog.”
