CHAPTER 12 THE MARRIAGE IN CANA HEALING OF THE NOBLEMAN’S SON

“[…] And certain of the Pharisees came and questioned Jesus and said unto Him, ‘How say Thou that God will condemn the world? And Jesus answered saying, ‘God so loves the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. They who believe on Him are not condemned; but they that believe not are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the Only Begotten of God. And this is the condemnation, that the Light is come into the world and men love darkness rather than Light, because their deeds are evil. For everyone that does evil hates the Light, neither comes to the Light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does righteousness comes to the Light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are worked in God.

And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus was coming into Galilee, he went unto Him and besought Him that He would come down and heal his son; for he was at the point of death. Then said Jesus unto him. ‘Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.’ The nobleman says unto Him, ‘Sir, come down here, my child is dying. Jesus says unto him. ‘Go thy way; thy son lives.’ And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him saying, ‘Thy son lives.’ Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, ‘Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.’ So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said unto him, ‘Thy son lives;’ and himself believed and his whole house.”
